Patrick Lo Giudice, a Swiss artist with Italien roots, born in Zurich in 1959 devoloped his unique technique works in encaustic for which he is best known today.
His paintings are easily recognizable. Usually encased in a heavy, black metal frame, they cover a diverse panoply of different themes and subject-matter. The observer feels themselves inexorably drawn into the thick layer of wax in a beneath which the image unfolds. The picture is built up in multiple layers of wax and the paint pigments are burnt into is. This specially developed technique gives essentially realistic pictures a certain blurriness.
